Bulky Items & Appliances

Bulky items: must be scheduled for pickup. To schedule a bulk item, please schedule it HERE.  Attached here are the directions on how to schedule a pickup.

  • Items allowed in our trash program per the state landfill's requirements:
    • Couch
    • Chair
    • Table
  • Items must be something our crew can pick up and will fit in the truck. Be mindful of the weather. Bulky items that are soaked or covered with snow will be too heavy for our hauling crew to pick up.
  • Items that are not permitted in this collection:
    • Construction debris- ex. pretreated wood, plaster,
    • Hazardous items
    • Mattresses and box springs,
    • E-waste- ex. computers, printers
    • TVs
    • Pallets
  • Amount Accepted. This collection is limited to one bulky item bi-weekly. Plan if you are moving out or cleaning out.
  • Other Options. Consider donating if your item is still usable. When we collect a bulky item, it is going to the landfill. Donating items is a great way to help someone else, save expensive trash disposal fees, and be good for our environment.

White Goods (Appliances): White goods are large metal appliances: stoves, water heaters, gas grills, etc.

  • White goods are collected on the first Monday of the month. Call our recycling department (767-2200, x 348) by Friday at noon before collection day. To be added to the list, schedule it here.
  • Smaller appliances such as a microwave or toaster ovens can be brought to our Recycle Center at the Highway Garage, 281 Quaker Highway, when the recycling area is open.
  • Fridges and dehumidifiers can also be brought down to the Highway Garage, or you can call RI Energy at 877-889-4762 or go to their website to schedule a pickup at RI Energy for a rebate.
