Recycling Programs
Recycling is sorting like materials so they can then be made into new items, instead of being landfilled. When disposing of an item, take a look at what is made of (metal, plastic, etc.) to see if it might be accepted in one of our recycling programs on this page.
Please make sure you sort all recyclables from your trash. Any recycling that is mixed in your trash can never be removed or recycled; instead, it goes straight to the landfill.
Watch the RIRRC video on what belongs in the recycle bin; it's the same throughout our state.

Recycling in Your Curbside Bin
North Smithfield offers bi-weekly curbside recycling pick-up on the same day as your trash collection. Using this recycling program is the easiest way to reuse valuable materials and reduce your trash amount.
Recycling also saves your tax dollars, and precious space in our state landfill and is good for our environment at the same time. *Unfortunately, due to the rise in price for the recycling bins we now have to charge $45 for a 64-gallon or $65 for a 96-gallon. We only accept cash or checks. *
